Ownership vs. Stewardship
What if the biggest leadership breakthrough you need right now isn’t more strategy, more hustle, or more pressure… but a shift in the way you see what and how you lead?
In my keynote presentation on Ownership vs Stewardship, I explore a leadership mindset that has transformed organisations, strengthened cultures, and restored leaders who were burning out under the weight of their own success.
In this presentation, I’ll break down what that shift actually looks like, and I’ll give you practical tools to recognise where you might be gripping too tightly… and how to lead with purpose instead of self indulgence.
Because leadership isn’t just about building something big… It’s about building something that lasts.
So if you want to breathe a little deeper, lead with more clarity, and create a business or ministry that thrives without costing you the things that matter most — this is a session you don’t want to miss.
The Real Math of Business
In this episode of "The Real Math of Business," host Alena Bennett welcomes leadership coach Jason McDougall to discuss the intersection of faith and business.
Jason shares his journey from humble beginnings in Western Sydney to becoming a leadership mentor, emphasising the importance of understanding one's purpose and the role of faith in navigating challenges. He reflects on his career path, which includes experiences in various industries, and how these shaped his leadership style. The conversation delves into the significance of being vulnerable in leadership, the necessity of having a strong support system, and the transformative power of faith in both personal and professional realms.
Throughout the discussion, Jason highlights the importance of self-awareness and the need to break personal rules that may hinder growth. He encourages listeners to embrace their true selves and to seek clarity in their goals and values. The episode concludes with practical advice for those feeling overwhelmed in their careers, urging them to focus on their 'why' and to cultivate a supportive environment where they can thrive. This episode is a rich exploration of how faith can guide leaders in making impactful decisions and fostering a positive workplace culture.
About Jason
I grew up in a family of modest means in Western Sydney, where faith was always part of our lives. We attended a mix of churches across different denominations, and through it all, my faith became the steady thread that’s shaped who I am today.
After finishing school, I began my career in a trade and found success early on. But after getting married, I transitioned into the corporate world — a shift that opened the door to a wide range of roles and experiences. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of observing many different leadership styles — some inspiring, others less so — and seeing firsthand how they can make or break a team, a culture, or even an entire business.
As my career evolved and I pursued professional and personal growth, I began to notice something powerful: the intersection between faith and business. I saw how applying Godly wisdom and biblical principles could transform not only individual leaders but entire organisations — shaping them into places where people can truly thrive.
Today, I’m passionate about helping others grow in their leadership, reach their goals, and discover their God-given potential. I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to build and enjoy their best life — one that’s full of purpose, peace, and fulfilment. But since none of us are handed a blueprint at birth, navigating the challenges of life and leadership can be tough. That’s where coaching comes in — helping you find clarity, direction, and the courage to move forward with faith.
